Day 18 - Jan 26 - Quartzite



Today we took a picnic lunch and went down the road toward Yuma to Mile 85, and then turned left and went to Palm Canyon. About 8 miles of washboard gravel, through "Healthy" Desert country. Came to a parking area after climbing to 700 or 800 feet elevation. From there walked another 1/2 mile up a rather steep valley to view some Palm trees growing up an almost vertical canyon crack in the rock. Pretty spectacular! Here is Denice in the canyon. She did good walking that distance on some fairly unstable rocky ground.


After we got home we went for another drive for a sunset photo. Took a jeep trail out into the desert, that turned into just a quad trail. Followed it a couple of miles until it got a little rough for the jeep. Decided to turn around, but while doing that Denice spied msome deer on the skyline directly in line with the sun. Just a great photo opportunity. Here is the result:
