Some Help Instructions

For better details of the map above, you can drag the map sideways or up and down with your mouse. The map only shows the route followed with ELTORO. It does not include all the side trips we have taken with our Jeep.

For the blog below you should always go down to the date where you last read, and read each day's activity. The latest day is always at the top.

You may want to check back every few days for additional photos, as I am rather delinquent at getting them in as soon as I should.

To view the photos in a larger format, just click on the one of interest and it will open full screen size.

To the Bruce Peninsula on the Big Canoe

Aug 11th
Foggy this morning again. Wait until noon and then go down to Info booth and find if any boat tours available. There is so we book into a 3:30PM Great Blue Heron Boat tour. It takes 2 hours to tour through some of the Islands. We waited around for that, and right on time loaded onto the Great Blue Heron. It is a 125 passenger boat about 50 ft long with 3 Diesel waterjet engines.

As soon as we left harbor fog surrounded us again. It was OK close to land or the islands but anything more than a couple of hundred feet from shore as completely obscured.
Notice the sunken vessel in the lower center
Here is the Che-Cheemaun with her maw open loading cars

Our boat was glass bottomed so we were able to see a couple of sunken shipwrecks that were in shallow waters. Then we followed some of the Island shores, but really could not see much. Our route took us by a couple of old light houses, and we were able to get close enough to at least see them.

Also a couple of Flower Pot Formations that were rather neat.

Returned to harbor by 5:45, and then home.

Up and away at the break of dawn this morning. Need to be at the South Bay Ferry Landing by 8:00AM and it is 25 miles away. Arrived without incident although many fog patches along the way. Once at the check-in, the first attendant greeted us with, "Hello Mr Lang" even before I had time to speak. He had seen that we were registered as a motorhome pulling a vehicle. We were advised several times that if we unhooked TOAD it would save us quite a bit of money, but Denice promised to pay the difference, if she did not have to drive TOAD on. Total for the ferry trip was $202.15 including 2 seniors @ $27.60, a high vehicle @ 74.40, a high trailer @ $74.40 (not sure how they arrived at that), and 5 over length feet @ $25.75. Once in line we wandered over to a gift shop. Need to have one of those where ever people congregated and have to wait in line. We bought!

Then out of the fog arrived the Big Canoe, the ferry to Tobermory. Loaded on, and had a good breakfast, and a good ride, although shrouded n fog almost the entire trip. Came out of it just prior to arriving at the docks of Tobermory. Exited the ferry and only had to drive a couple of miles to our RV Campground destination at the Tobermory Village Resort.

Were completely settled in by 11:30AM, a short traveling day. Just relaxed the remainder of the day.
