Quiet day - out to Walmart for a WallyWorld fix, HEB (Here Everything is Better) and Hobby Lobby for some things we wanted -  always groceries
The visits to the craft stores are so we can get some things to do while we are sitting here for 3 months. Denice wants to do a bunch of scrapbookin, I am going to try my hand at some Stained Glass pictures. Never done that before , but you can't be too old to learn. Of Course Denice says I must take some classes to know what I am doing, but you know me. I think I'll just worry my way through until I screw up and then get help!!!!

Denice cooking for "Pot Luck" supper tonight
She made chicken Spaghetti, It was very well received. We are enjoying the suppers. Tonight there was about 36 peple attending.

A Q-tip gathering

But Lots of Food
Most were Q-Tips, but that is OK as we are approaching that stage of our life as well. We are not real interested in a whole lot of the local community events, like card games and such, but a good meal is hard to turn down. Amazing how a pot luck dinner gives such a variety of food!

Laundry Day - wandered around the park - found some interesting bird feeders- maybe some of the birds from those will start coming to ours. In the vening after supper I spent a half hour in th e"Hot Tub" I do enjoy that and try to do it almost each evening. Seems its not really that well used as most of the time I have it all to myself

Denices comments: - sometimes I need a little assistance from her to put a little humor into the blog
Good day today! Wanted to go to 3 different places today: A scrap booking store, a stained Glass shop and Michaels for some handicraft supplies we decided we wanted to do. So we put the first address into our Jeeps GPS. Right away we should have known we were on a "Wild Goose Chase" as she wanted to take us 10 miles to the north. Now that is right out of town of Mission, but it was a nice drive. No such place!!! Then put in the second for the stained glass shop, Back into McAllen and after a couple of wrong turns finally found the place. Closed!! Then tried to put into the GPS the address for Michaels, but the GPS would not accept "Expressway 83" so we thought we would just follow along the service road and eventually would see it on our right. No such luck!! Now needed gas in Jeep so pulled into a Shell station, and very "Unmanly" asked if they knew where Michaels might be? "Two more blocks and turn right" and there is was, but didn't have what we were after anyway. Pretty well batting "zero" today, but the good news was we able to find a liquor store and buy a "BIG" bottle of rum, and from the first street vendor we saw, buy some oranges for $3 (another block away the same oranges for $2), and at a Dollar store some cat food to feed the birds. They tell us Green Jays are crazy for cat food and orioles and kiskadee's like oranges. Once home we had a big drink of Rum to settle our nerves!

Bird Watching
Anybody got a beebee gun?? Anyone?? We have some nice birds coming to our feeders, but we also have a Mocking Bird and apparently they are very territorial, and this one has claimed our one feeder as its own and continues to chase the others away. Nice little bird, but very sassy!!

"That Mocking Bird"

A Big Lunker
Then this aft watched a fisherman casting from the dock behind us - Fished a long time, but just when he was tempted to "Wrap it up", a big lunker latched on and gave him quite a battle, but after 15 minutes he was able to land him. He was a 12 lb Carp, 26 inches long. The lucky fisherman, removed his hook, and then tethered him like a dog on a lease, swimming around in the river until he showed friends and his wife and then he released him back to the river to be caught another day after he grows up. He said last year he caught one 36 inches long weighing in at about 25 lbs.  Didn't mention the big one that got away though. Thats always the Fishermans story isn't it? We have seen some big ones jump, but of course never able to tll actually how big they were. Denice swears one was a dolphin, at least as big as a dolphin, but that is another story.
