And We Are Off!!!

Well, the Chucks are over in High River. We have all the big time names here in High River, just prior to the Calgary Stampede, and we hear from our door every evening that familiar phrase "And they are off." Well, so are we. We are now starting our second week on our 2010 - 2011 Winter Vacation. Plans are to do the complete "cross Canada" tour, and hopefully over into Newfoundland, and then when fall colors start, head south down through the New England states, and continue to work south to warmer climes for the winter. But we do plan on flying home for the month of December ( just so we do not forget how to shovel snow), but then return to Texas and the other southern sates for to remainder of the winter.
We started our trip by journeying up north of Edmonton to the little town of Thorhild, to visit our good friends, Buck and Jean Warren, who we hope to join with a Panama Cruise next year to celebrate both of our 50th Wedding Anniversaries. 50 years, Holy Shit, are we getting old or what!! We spent a few great days with them, but broke away for two days to tour into Edmonton and stay with brother Larry. Had a good time with him, but sure missed the company of Enid, who traveled on to the "Other World." When we talk about 50th Wedding Anniversaries, it sure brings to light that we will all be joining with Enid before long. However, without dwelling on that subject too much, before we get too much older we must enjoy our retirement, and do the things that we have wanted and planned all our lives. Ours is to see as much of North America as we can from our motorhome, and so, this trip!! Today is July 23rd. We left Buck and Jeans this Morning and traveled Yellowhead Highway 16 down to Saskatoon and Highway 16 RV Park for the night. When I reserved yesterday they advised me it has been very wet around here, and were not sure if we would be able to back into any of the few remaining spots available. After arriving they advised I should go and check it out before paying, in case we wished to change our minds, but after locating site 28, found it OK and set up there. Beautiful sunset tonight, so I decided to climb a dirt berm around the park that was covered with deep brome grass. One picture, 700 mosquito bites later, I decided it wasn't worth it, and made a run for ELTORO!!

  1. Just like a "Construction" guy to let a few little skitters put the run on him. Glad to see that you are back on the trail. In some fashion we hope to be tracking you later in August so keep a good record of where the good spots are. Travel Safe.
